Cars in German City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Police stated they were alerted by a resident who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.

Officers say they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then found numerous other marked automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police report initial examinations indicate the fluid was likely human blood.

"There is still no lead as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.

Local authorities announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have asked to the community for information.

A high-ranking representative stated the incident rendered him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
